The new Defining Gray, 2017 Revised Edition, is now available to order from your local or online bookstore!
So why this revised 2017 edition?
- I hadn’t read DG, straight through, in several years. When I did, I was disappointed that it still had some ‘eh’ spots. Since I hadn’t yet done any formal marketing or publicity (only that which happened organically) I decided to let DG fizzle out until I had time to tackle another edit.
- Having written parts of books 2 to 5, I wanted a little extra foreshadowing so I made a few changes and wrote a few extra scenes for this edition.
- My Soaring Turtle Press publishing company never fully got off the ground (those dang turtles are heavy … what was I thinking trying to get mine to fly?) so I laid it to rest and started a new pub company: XiZi Press, lovingly named after my black lab, Lexi, and my white cat, Dazi, by combining the last two digits of each of their names.
And why has it taken so long?
1) I took time out to write the draft of book 2: Ashes in Bloom, over a one year period, in 2011-2012. Compared to the first draft of DG, Ashes was a snap! I also wanted to wait until it was ready to publish before redoing DG.
2) I was still bogged down with my author/pub tasks
3) I wrote a musical inspired by my two brothers’ original music, then revised, revised, and revised again – 8 times in fact. And it still isn’t ready for prime time!
4) My new editor had prior commitments and several life events that kept DG and Ashes in her hands for a long time. Since I was working on the musical, I was in no hurry.
Ashes in Bloom, Book 2 of the Defining Gray series, is in the final proofing stage!
